How Can I Contact One of the Adult Leaders?
Are you still not sure who to contact regarding a Troop function? And how would you know who has taken over a Committee Chair or Coordinator function? We put that information on the Our Adult Leaders screen, accessible from the Home menu . Here you can see a picture of our adult leaders, so you'll know who to look for at a meeting.
On the Our Adult Leaders screen you'll not only see each of the Troop adult leaders and the function that they perform for the Troop, but you'll also have an easy way to contact each of them. On the right-hand side of the page is a hotlink to that individual's Troop email address. When you click on that link, the email program on your computer will open, and the "To" address and "Subject" line will be automatically filled in for you. Please note that your email program must be connected to your email server in order for the email to be successfully sent.
If you use an online email service such as Gmail or Yahoo Mail, you can see the Troop email address of the adult leader by hovering your cursor over the hotlink and that leader's email address will be shown in the lower left-hand corner of your browser window. The adult leader's Troop email address is the entire contents between "Mailto:" and the "?" (Note: all Troop email addresses end in @troop186.org, for instance activities@troop186.org or camping@troop186.org). Record this email address and use your online email service to send this individual an email.
Alternatively, you can go to the >E-Mail>Compose E-Mail screen and check the box next to that adult leader's name, compose your email and click the "Send" button at the bottom of the screen. Note that you can click on the "Adult" column header to sort the entire list of Troop email recipients alphabetically by Scouts (a "N" in this column) and Adults (a "Y" in this column). Click the "Adult" header again and you'll resort the list in reverse alphabetical order. Note that this list sort functionality works with every header in any table found on any screen throughout the website.
And finally, you can go to the >Troop>Active Adults screen to look up the adult leaders phone number!
Info For Adults Listed on the Our Adult Leaders Screen
Your troop function listed on this screen, which also provides both the public and other Troop members with your Troop email address, is maintained within the "About Me" field on your contact information screen (>My Stuff>My Contact Information). Please do not change the information in this field, as it may disable this email functionality. If you change Troop Committee responsibilities, the Webmaster will update this field for you. Please contact the Webmaster if this information needs updated for any reason.
Note that the email address we display on this screen is different than your personal email address. This is so that we don't have to expose your personal email address to the public, as this screen is accessible to the public without their having to log into the website. As this is a pubically accessible screen, the email address on this web screen (for instance, scoutmaster@troop186.org) can be "havested" by email webbots commonly used by spammers to gain valid email addresses from publicly accessible websites. Therefore, it is possible for you to receive spam email addressed to your @troop186.org email address. We wish this could be avoided, but there is no way for us to prevent this from happening. Please ensure you have adequate email spam filtering in place to limit the amount of spam that you may receive.
